Happy 87th Birthday Mom!
Doug and Farris Crookston
Both Doug and Farris's birthdays and anniversary are actually on October 30, but all the children will be in Layton this August for a family get-together.
After high school in Cache Valley, Dad joined the Army and served in WWII. Upon his departure back to Logan, Utah, he saw a beautiful young woman, and instantly fell in love. They were married a short time later in 1946 at the Salt Lake Temple and started their journey in raising a family.
Dad taught woodworking, shop and math in the Davis County School District. Starting in 1964, during the summer breaks, the family went to Kenai, Alaska to work on their commercial salmon site. Many friends and family have enjoyed the experience and Farris's legendary smoked salmon over the last 50 years.
They served a mission to New Zealand in 1995 and truly loved the opportunity.
Doug and Farris are the parents of five children: Kent, Clair, Ted, Connie and Nick, 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. We are grateful for our parent's love and service.
They are holding an open house and family celebration in their home on August 22, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at 286 North 2650 South, Layton, Utah. You can also e-mail Dad at: firstname.lastname@example.org
