Samuel L. Stephens and Maryloo Roberts Stephens of Ogden have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They were married on August 17, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A dinner celebration will be held with their family.
Sam was born July 16, 1928 in Ogden, Utah to Samuel Lehi and Aseneth Ann Porter Stephens. He built Brigham City Radio Station, KBUH, at age 19. That same year he met Maryloo while they were co-narrators for a Sunday School Christmas Program. He took her on their first date to Rainbow Rendezvous in Salt Lake City and the following year they were married. He continued his broadcast work for KLO and KVOG. He also worked for KOET television, Ogden City School's TV Station. Sam retired after 26 years with the school district. His interests are playing the organ, photography, and enjoying his grandchildren.
Maryloo was born September 17, 1926 to David Loo and Mary Mamie Roberts in Ogden, Utah. She was the sixth of ten children. Maryloo taught 2nd and 3rd grades in Blackfoot, Idaho and in Ogden. Her talents include all types of needlework and cooking. Maryloo served in the Ogden Daughters of Utah Pioneers for over 30 years. She enjoys her associations with her good friends from the Altruist Club, and she especially enjoys listening to Sam play their favorite Big Band Era selections on the organ.
Their children are Kerry and Melanie Stephens, Brian and Lisa Stephens, Layne Stephens, Drew and Jann Stephens, John and Maryanne VanDenBerghe.
They have 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
