Bingham beat Davis 10-2 in Monday’s 6A state baseball quarterfinal at Utah Valley University in Orem.
The Darts took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning after they loaded the bases with two outs and Parker Jensen hit a two-run single up the middle.
Bingham responded with three runs in the bottom of the second inning before Miners first baseman Nick Burdette hit a monster two-run home run to left field to put them ahead 5-2.
Stockton Hall and Garrett Larsen both batted 2 for 3 for Davis. Leading 6-2, Burdette hit another home run as Bingham added two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth.
The Miners tagged Davis starting pitcher Zach Hoskins for six earned runs in 2 2/3 innings as Bingham starter Derek Soffe threw six innings of two-run baseball with no walks and five strikeouts in the win.
Davis will play Region 3-champion Riverton in the one-loss bracket at UVU on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
6A QUARTERFINAL: American Fork 15, Clearfield 5
American Fork jumped on Clearfield for an eight-run first inning as the Cavemen knocked Clearfield into the 6A one-loss bracket Monday.
The Falcons trailed 11-0 in the third inning before Ethan Giacalone’s two-run double put Clearfield on the scoreboard. Tyson Walker went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
Chandler Kotter went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Clearfield plays Copper Hills Tuesday at UVU at 4:30 p.m. in the one-loss bracket.
5A ONE-LOSS BRACKET: Wasatch 6, Viewmont 4
Viewmont’s season ended by way of a three-run third inning by Wasatch in the 5A state baseball one-loss bracket. The Vikings trailed 6-2 after four innings, scored two runs in the fifth to cut the lead in half, but couldn’t muster any more.
Tyson Toller went 1 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Braden Campbell doubled, had two hits and two RBIs; Aaron Bredsguard took the loss. The Vikings finished the season with an 18-8 record.
