Tonight kicks off this year’s Comic Con in San Diego with preview night. San Diego is currently suing Salt Lake Comic Con over the use of the name “Comic Con.”

SDCC started back in 1970; recently a contract was signed keeping the Con in San Diego till at least 2018.

SDCC and SLCC will be going to trial to settle this legal argument, SDCC saying the name of Salt Lake’s event is too similar, making people think the two conventions are connected. SLCC said it believes that Comic Con describes what the event is and will stand for all the other Comic Cons across the nation that SDCC could go after if SLCC falls.
