Happy 100th Birthday!: Wilford Zaugg
Saturday , July 26, 2014 - 6:00 PM
Wilford Zaugg will celebrate his 100th birthday on Saturday, August 2, 2014. Family and friends are invited to attend an Open House from 4 to 7:30 p.m., at 2865 W. 800 N. West Point, Utah.
The youngest son and 12th of 13 children, Wilford grew up ranching and then became a dairy and crop farmer. He is the last living person of that great generation of his family.
After serving an Eastern States mission, Wilford married Elva in the Logan Temple, then they made their home in West Point. They were married 72 years before she passed away in October 2012. Wilford and Elva were active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in the community, where they raised crops, milked Jersey dairy cows and sold milk, and raised their 11 children: Karen (Roy) Barraclough; Lee (RuthAnn) Zaugg, Eileen (Gerry) Beltgens, Ned (Emily) Zaugg, Barbara (Hunter) Stuart, Laraine (Jerry) Bouck, Reed (Dianne) Zaugg, Lowell - Buzz - (Nikki) Zaugg; Russ Zaugg, Douglas (Brenda) Zaugg, and Kelly Zaugg. Eight of the children served LDS missions, and all 11 children were married in an LDS temple.
The most important things in Wilford's life have been the Church, his mission, his marriage and family, community service, working to make the farm and dairy successful, serving a Dallas Temple mission with Elva, as well as serving together 18 years in the Ogden Temple. As a Temple Sealer, Wilford performed marriages for several of his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, and received a national Boone and Crockett award, fishing, wood working and making pens out of wood from all parts of the world, and growing a garden and sharing produce with neighbors and family.
In addition to his 11 children, Wilford has 52 grandchildren and 98 great-grandchildren.
