Ivy L. Keyes of Uintah will celebrate her 90th birthday Sunday, September 24, 2017.
To commemorate the occasion she will be honored at an Open House on Friday, September 22, 2017. Please join us from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Uintah LDS Building, located at 6650 S. 1775 E. in Uintah. Her family will also celebrate this milestone with a dinner and service projects.
She was born to Lawrence and Nola Kimber in Grouse Creek, Utah.
She attended school in Grouse Creek and graduated from Box Elder High School. She attended Brigham Young University and Weber State College.
On March 25, 1947, she married Jack W. Keyes in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Early in their marriage, they built a home in Uintah, where she still resides today. Jack passed away in 2001.
She has always had a passion for cooking and started a catering business, "Catering Specialists," in 1969. It continued to be a successful business for 35 years where she enjoyed serving people from many different places. She has written a highly sought after cookbook and is well known for her exquisite wedding cakes and famous donuts.
Her hobbies include, cooking, music, playing the piano, quilting, embroidery, and reading.
Active in the LDS Church, she has served in many ward and stake callings. Her favorites include working with the Gleaners and doing sealings at the Ogden LDS Temple with her husband. In recent years, she has enjoyed serving with the Single Sisters.
Her children and their spouses are: Linda and John Scott, Don and Jackie Keyes, Connie and Brent Nielson, Mike and Cathy Keyes, Bruce (deceased), and Carolyn and Jason Leavitt.
She has 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
