Ken was born in Logan, UT, on November 29, 1937, to Einar and Ruby Young. He is the second to the youngest of 14 children.
He married Anna Marie Perl in July of 1958 in Augsburg Germany, and has been happily married for 59 years. They have two daughters, Ramona Young, and Jessica (John) Jurkowski, as well as four grandchildren: Jared (Allyson), Jordan, Josh, and Jill Jurkowski, and five great-grandchildren.
Ken joined the United States Army when he was 17 years old, and spent the next 20 years serving his country, which included a tour in Vietnam. After retiring from active duty, he still put on a uniform every day teaching and helping many young students in Ogden High's ROTC program. Ken retired from Ogden High after 23 years of teaching. He is proud of his military service time and the time he spent with the wonderful students at Ogden High.
Ken is enjoying his retirement, doing a lot of fishing and little catching. He stays active in local Veterans organizations, doing funeral services and other flag presentations. He spends a lot of time at his place at Bear Lake, fishing and off-roading, and makes annual treks to Grand Teton National Park, fishing with his family.
He will celebrate his birthday with a quiet family dinner.
