She will celebrate her birthday with a family dinner at The Lodge at Maddox on Friday, February 23, 2018.

Barbara was born February 19, 1938, in Salt Lake City to Gene and Zelda Bouck.

The family moved to Ogden in 1944. She attended Ogden City Schools, graduating from Ogden High School in 1956, and has many friendships from that time.

After graduation she worked at HAFB for a short time and then attended Weber College. She married James L. Craner on February 14, 1957. They were married for almost 58 years. Jim passed away in January of 2015.

Barbara worked in the public schools as a Special Ed Aide, then received her R. N. and worked as a nurse at McKay-Dee Hospital until 1990. She then worked at WSU in the Registration area and retired from there in 2003.

She is a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in many leadership capacities. She is currently serving as the pianist in Primary in her ward and as the accompanist for the Layton multi-stake adult religion class.

She and her husband served a mission to the Slovenia-Croatia Mission for 18 months. She enjoyed working with the young missionaries and loved them as though they were her own children.

She and her husband also served as volunteers at the 2013 Hill Cumorah Pageant, working at the Peter Whitmer Cabin.

Barbara plays the piano and has accompanied many different soloists and group singers throughout the years, and was the accompanist for four different ward choirs. She also played the Grand Piano in the lobby of the McKay-Dee Hospital. She also enjoys working in her yard, has played tennis for over 30 years and loves to decorate for holidays.

In the community Barbara has served as an Election Judge, has been a long-time blood donor, worked with elementary school children to improve their reading skills, and for several years worked at the Ogden Rescue Mission in their Medical Clinic.

Barbara has traveled extensively and her trip to the Holy Land in 2008, is a special memory. Her favorite enjoyment is being with her family and she works hard to keep in contact with all of her grandchildren.

She recently moved from South Ogden to Layton and is enjoying making new friends there.

Barbara has four children: Connie and Steve Bailey of Riverdale; Doug and Julie Craner of Pleasant View; Ryan Craner of Bountiful; and Tyler and Debbie Craner of San Antonio, TX. She has 13 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren with one infant great-granddaughter deceased.
