Happy 80th Birthday!: Laree C. Hill

Laree Clarke Hill was born on February 20, 1938, to Thomas Leroy Clarke and Eliza Josephine Smith Clarke. She was the fourth child from a family of six children. She was raised on a farm where they had dairy cows and crops. She learned the value of hard work from an early age.
She attended Taylor School then West Weber Elementary, then Wahlquist Junior High, and graduated from Weber High. She learned to play the piano and the saxophone. Her talents in music have blessed the lives of her family and those fortunate to hear her perform.
On March 7, 1957, she married Reed Glenn Hill, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have enjoyed almost 61 years together. They were blessed with two sons and two daughters. She stayed at home to raise her children until they were all in school. She was a substitute teacher in elementary schools until she was hired as the secretary at West Weber and Riverdale Elementary schools. Later, she was the librarian at West Weber Elementary. She also worked for the Credit Bureau of Ogden. Her favorite job was staying home with her children.
Laree enjoys hardanger embroidery, crocheting, making quilts, especially baby quilts, and baking. She loves to go for rides and to anything that involves her grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Reed and Laree love to camp, especially with family.
Reed and Laree served an LDS mission to Rochester, New York, which included the sites at Palmyra, New York, from 1995 to 1996. They gave tours at various church history sites. They received a letter of commendation for being integral to acquiring the property on which now sits the Palmyra Temple. They also served a mission in Salt Lake, driving people who had layovers from the airport to Temple Square. She has served in many callings in the church including YW President, Relief Society President, teaching Primary and many other calling including music. She especially enjoyed playing the organ. Her testimony of the gospel has been a strength and a blessing to her family.
Her siblings are: Marvin (Verla) Clarke, deceased; Carma (Rex, deceased) Kirby;Don (Rosalie) Clarke, deceased Marian (Dee) Schenck; and Allan (Shirley) Clarke. Her children are: Kevin (Mary Ann) Hill, Karen (Korry) Green, Larry (Jolene) Hill, and Angie (Todd) Jones. She also has 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, with two more expected this year. Her posterity is numbered at 61.
A family dinner is being held in her honor on February 20, 2018, at Maddox.
