SALT LAKE CITY -- Five local Utah fantasy authors will be spearheading a panel on Females in Fantasy at FantasyCon July 3-5.
FEMALES IN FANTASY: What makes characters like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Hermoine Granger, and Eowyn great? The panel will be 6 to 6:50 p.m. Thursday, July 3. Presenters will be David Farland, Rebecca Ethington, RaShelle Workman, Angela Corbett and Cindy Hogan.
Farland is an award-winning, international best-selling author with over 50 novels in print. He has won the Philip K. Dick Memorial Special Award for "Best Novel in the English Language" for his science fiction novel On My Way to Paradise, the Whitney Award for "Best Novel of the Year" for his historical novel In the Company of Angels, and he has won over seven awards—including the International Book Award and the Hollywood Book Festival, Grand Prize—for his fantasy thriller Nightingale. He is best known, however, for his New York Times best-selling fantasy series The Runelords.
Ethington is the international bestselling author of the Imdalind Series, with over 300,000 copies of her books sold worldwide. Her debut novel, Kiss of Fire, was written as a gift for her 92 year old grandfather.
Workman is an international bestselling author. She writes fractured fairy tales and young adult science fiction. She has sold more than 500,000 copies of her books worldwide.
Corbett started writing poetry in elementary school and worked as a journalist in high school and college. She is a graduate of Westminster College where she double majored in communication and sociology. She writes under the name Destiny Ford.
Hogan is the bestselling author of the Watched trilogy.
