OGDEN - A man admitted in court Tuesday to downloading nearly 3,000 images of child pornography.

Griffen Gale, 36, appeared in the 2nd District Court of Ogden to plead guilty to 20 second-degree felony charges of sexual exploitation of a child.

Gale pleaded guilty as charged without any deal to lessen the charges.

According to court records, agents of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force were investigating Gale, to whom they traced large amounts of uploads and downloads of images in March 2013. A search warrant was served at his home in Roy and investigators found a hidden computer in his garage that was sharing thousands of images of children being sexually abused.

Gale was arrested and charged for each victim depicted in his library of images. He faces a potential sentence of one to 15 years in prison for each charge.

Prosecutors say some of the children depicted in the images are known victims and under the law are entitled to monetary restitution from Gale.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14.
