James Robert Louis Wood, 18, is charged with 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, and 10 counts of dealing in harmful material to a minor by an adult, a third-degree felony, in 2nd District Court. He was booked into Weber County Jail on Friday, Sept. 15.
Wood allegedly posed as “Jessica Ford” on Facebook and received multiple child pornography images from 11 minors between December 2016 and February, a probable cause statement filed in connection with the case says.
Wood is accused of making friends with the minors and having conversations with them on Facebook Messenger, court records say. During those conversations, he would ask for nude photos, the court documents state.
He’s also accused of sending the minors photos of an unidentified woman’s breasts and genitals so the juveniles would send more photos, the court records say. This was in an attempt to “convince them that his alias, ‘Jessica Ford,’ was real,” the probable cause statement says.
Wood allegedly showed photos of minors to other individuals as well, and sent a picture of a minor to that minor’s sibling, the court document says.
Wood is being held on a $178,500 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 19.
