OGDEN — After pleading guilty to charges in October, a Roy man was sentenced Tuesday for soliciting nude photos from minors over Facebook.

James Robert Louis Wood, 19, appeared in 2nd District Court before Judge Noel Hyde to be sentenced on three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

Wood was given an indeterminate sentence of one to 15 years in the state prison for each charge, according to court documents. Each count will run concurrently with each other. Wood was also given credit for time he has served in the Weber County Jail.

Hyde also recommended that Wood complete a sex offender program while at the Utah State Prison

Prior to accepting the plea deal, Wood originally faced 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, and 10 counts of dealing in harmful material to a minor by an adult, a third-degree felony.

Using the fake name “Jessica Ford” on Facebook, Wood received multiple child pornography images from 11 minors between December 2016 and February 2017, a probable cause statement filed in the case says.

As of Thursday evening, Wood was being held at Weber County Jail and had not yet been transferred to the Utah State Prison in Draper.
