SALT LAKE CITY — Charges have been filed against a West Haven couple accused of failing to file proper income taxes between 2013 and 2016.

Daniel Chester Erickson and Bobbi Jo Erickson, both 36, are each charged with four counts of tax evasion, a second-degree felony; four counts of failing to render proper tax returns, a third-degree felony; and one count of pattern of unlawful activity, a second-degree felony.

Although they are Weber County residents, they have been charged in Salt Lake City’s 3rd District Court.

The Ericksons failed to comply with multiple notices sent to them by the Utah State Tax Commission, according to a press release from the state agency.

The Ericksons did not report any income on their 2013 and 2014 tax returns and did not file state income tax in 2015 and 2016, the release says.

“The Ericksons refused to file proper returns even though our investigation shows they earned between $266,000 to nearly $944,000 annually during those four years,” tax commission spokesperson Charlie Roberts said in a statement.

Charges were filed by the Utah Attorney General’s Office, online court records state.

Neither Daniel nor Bobbi Erickson are in police custody. The two were booked and released from the Salt Lake County Jail on Friday, according to online court records.

Their next court appearances are tentatively scheduled for April 23 in a Salt Lake City courtroom.
