SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Bountiful man was given federal prison time Wednesday for robbing three banks in three states in 2017.

Gregory Jerome Brown, 28, was sentenced to five years and three months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to a press release from the Eastern District of California U.S. Attorney’s Office.

In January, Brown pleaded guilty to robbing banks in California, Nevada and Southern Utah.

According to Brown’s plea agreement document, Brown entered a Wells Fargo Bank in Auburn, California, on Oct. 13, 2017, and handed a note to a bank teller. The note read, “This is a robbery. Put all your $100s, $50s and $10s in a white envelope.” The teller gave him $4,650 before Brown exited the bank and drove away on a motorcycle, the court document says.

The following day, Oct. 14, Brown robbed another Wells Fargo Bank, this time in Reno, Nevada, documents say. Brown handed a bank teller a similar note from the previous robbery, but this time the note included the phrase “I have a gun.” Brown was given $1,040 during the robbery, documents say.

On Nov. 8, 2017, Brown robbed an America First Credit Union in St. George, Utah. This time, the note he gave to a bank teller read, “It’s a robbery. Gun in my pocket. 100s and 50s. You have 2 (or 5) minutes.” Brown received $120 during the robbery, documents say.

Following the St. George incident, Brown was arrested in Phoenix, according to court documents.
