'Musical of Musicals (The Musical!)' opens in Logan

LOGAN — Fans of musical theater discover parodies paying homage to many of their favorite composers and lyricists in a series of five acts.

Act one reflects Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s style with references to “The Sound of Music,” “Oklahoma!” and “South Pacific.”

Act two takes on the works of Stephen Sondheim, including “Into the Woods” and “Sweeney Todd.”

Acts three through five reference shows by Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Kander and Fred Ebb. Expect appearances from a Phantom and an errant chandelier.

“The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!)” opens at 7:30 p.m. June 25 with shows on select dates through July 29. Performances are at Caine Lyric Theatre, 28 W. Center St., Logan. Tickets $12-$30 are available at www.arts.usu.edu or 435-797-8022.
