An event celebrating Ogden’s 31-year relationship with its sister city will bring a little piece of Germany to the area this weekend.

The annual Hof Germanfest — named after Hof, Germany — is slated for Friday, Jan. 20, and Saturday, Jan. 21. The family-friendly celebration immerses attendees in German culture, including traditional food, dance and much more.

A few of the activities at this year’s event are:

  • Music by the award-winning Gruber Family Band, Jaegerswald Musikanten and Europa
  • Authentic German food from Siegfried’s Sausages, Vossen’s Paradise Bakery and Memorable Nut Roasters
  • Entertainment by Heart of Utah International Dance Club
  • Yodeling lessons
  • Waltzes and polkas to dance to
  • Authentic crafts to view and purchase

This year’s event will also feature a tribute to longtime contributor Siegfried Meyer, who died in a motorcycle crash last year.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day and is taking place at the Golden Spike Event Center Exhibit Hall, 1000 N. 1200 West in Ogden.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, $5 for children ages 3 to 12, and $25 for family passes.
