Comic Con, rodeo and Mary Poppins: 6 family-friendly events this weekend

Spring is almost here, and there’s plenty to do in Northern Utah this weekend. Here are a few events that are fun for the whole family. 

Salt Lake Comic Con Fan X 2017 — Dress like your favorite superhero and meet the people behind everyone’s favorite characters. Guests this year include Stan Lee, “Weird Al” Yankovic and Zachary Levi. 

When: March 17-18, doors open at 8 a.m.

Where: Salt Palace Convention Center, 100 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City.

Cost: $25-$180.

Celebrations From Around the World — The Davis County Library will hold its annual spring activity for all ages. Learn how people across the world celebrate holidays like St. Patrick’s Day, Holi, Day of the Dead, Passover, Christmas and Chinese New Year. 

When: March 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m. 

Where: Davis County Library North Branch, 562 S 1000 East Clearfield; Davis County Library South Branch, 725 S Main St, Bountiful; Davis County Library Central Branch, 155 Wasatch Dr, Layton. 

Cost: Free.

RMPRA Winter Rodeo Series — Rocky Mountain Professional Rodeo Association will make a tour stop in Ogden at the Golden Spike Events Center. 

When: March 17-18, doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance starts at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Golden Spike Events Center, 1000 N. 1200 West, Ogden.

Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for children.

Ben Lomond Lanes Customer Appreciation Event — Ben Lomond Lanes will have a customer appreciation event Saturday. The afternoon will feature food, prizes, face painting, and of course, plenty of bowling. 

When: March 18, 2-5 p.m.

Where: Ben Lomond Lanes, 329 Washington Blvd, Ogden.

Cost: Free.

 

Mary Poppins at the CenterPoint Legacy Theater — The magical story of Mary Poppins will be live and on stage at the CenterPoint Legacy Theater in Centerville Friday and Saturday night. 

When: March 17-18 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: CenterPoint Legacy Theater — Barlow Main Stage, 525 N. 400 West, Centerville.

Cost: $17.50-$23.25.

World Cutter & Chariot Racing Championship — Live chariot races will take place at the Weber County Fairgrounds. 

When: March 18-19 from 12-1 p.m.

Where: Golden Spike Event Center Racetrack & Grandstand, 1000 N. 1200 West, Ogden. 

Cost: $8.
