OGDEN — Anyone interested in bringing a free concert series to Ogden has a chance to do just that, by voting online in the Levitt AMP Your City Grant Awards

The Ogden Downtown Alliance is competing for $25,000 in matching funds to host its own Levitt AMP Music Series, a weekly series of 10 free outdoor concerts with a diverse lineup, in the summer of 2018. The proposed event venue is the Union Station downtown at 2501 Wall Ave.

Ogden is one of 36 small to mid-sized U.S. cities currently in the running, with Moab being the other Utah city. As of Friday evening, Ogden is in 34th place; Moab is in 24th.

The competition will be narrowed down to 25 finalists through an online voting process that’s now open to the public and ends on Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. PST (6 p.m. MST).

You can vote for Ogden by clicking here.

From there, the Levitt Foundation will review the proposals submitted by each city during the initial application process and select up to 15 winners, which will be announced on Jan. 2.

The Alliance is asking locals to vote and spread the word, as a successful campaign depends on community support. Its proposal can be found at the Levitt Amp website, where anyone can register to vote for up to five competing cities.

"Union Station is one of the most iconic landmarks in our town and such an important piece of Ogden’s history and would be an amazing backdrop for a concert series,” Brett Turner, creative director for the Alliance, said in a press release.

“When we stumbled across the Levitt AMP Grant we thought it aligned perfectly with our vision of bringing vibrancy and free arts programming for the public to enjoy. ... We have this beautiful building that has seen people from all walks of life pass through its doors for more than 100 years. Our vision is to once again see the station come to life with diverse experiences for the community to enjoy and participate in."
