Light of the Valley Lutheran Church in Layton currently is undergoing an expansion. This rendering shows what the church will look like this spring when the expansion is complete. Contractors broke ground in early March. The church is adding a new meeting room, a new nursery area and a larger lobby area.
LAYTON — The public is invited to celebrate 25 years of service with Light of the Valley Lutheran Church.
The congregation will be holding a celebratory service with a supper to follow beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 19. The church is located at 1074 N. Fairfield Road in Layton.
During this time of appreciation for its history, the church also is expanding.
The church was damaged by wind May 1, 2016.
“We made a decision to not just repair but also to improve and expand,” said Pastor Jon Klein.
Renderings of the building show a new look with an expanded lobby and a large roof giving the building the look of a more traditional church.
“It should basically look like the renderings when we are done,” Klein said. “We are adding a new meeting room, a new nursery area and a larger lobby area,” he said.
The construction crew broke ground last week.
“They say it should take about two months of work,” he said.
