HOOPER — Jason Tonioli, a Hooper resident and composer of piano music, has announced the release of his seventh CD.
“Favorite Hymns” features music by Tonioli and vocals by CaraNua, a trio made up of former members of Celtic Woman and Riverdance.
Tonioli said Alex Sharpe, Lynn Hilary and Edel Murphy visited the area last summer and recorded enough tracks for three CDs.
“Favorite Hymns” is the first to be released. The second, “Heal the World,” is scheduled for release in the spring.
Chuck E. Myers — known for his work with bands like Simple Plan, De La Soul and Fall Out Boy — and Jake Bowen also recorded orchestration for the tracks, Tonioli said.

After playing an Easter concert with Sharpe, Tonioli invited members of CaraNua to Utah to record.
“The plan was to record two or three songs,” Tonioli said. “We recorded 23 songs during a two-week time period when they were here.”
Tonioli, Sharpe, Hilary and Murphy plan to perform a concert to raise funds for EnableUtah Jan. 13 at Ogden’s Peery’s Egyptian Theater.
CaraNua singer Hilary has a sister with Down Syndrome and has an affinity for helping people with special needs, Tonioli said.
