Tacos — they’re so delicious they’ve secured their own day of the week (Taco Tuesday).

Whether you prefer pork, beef or something a bit more unique, whether you want guacamole or salsa or just want to keep it simple with meat and cheese — we’re pretty sure there’s a perfect taco out there for everyone.

But what local restaurant has the best tacos? Depending on your preferences and who you ask, that’s a complicated question.   

We asked Standard-Examiner readers on Facebook what restaurant has the best tacos in Northern Utah, and they didn’t disappoint with their suggestions.

1. Bella’s Fresh Mexican Grill

Several S-E readers raved about Bella’s Fresh Mexican Grill and their tacos deliciosos. Try the carnitas or shredded beef tacos at this family-owned and operated Farr West restaurant, readers say.

Hours: 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday; closed, Sunday. 

2. Javier’s Mexican Food

With six locations in Weber and Davis counties, you’re most likely never too far from a Javier’s. Whether you’re craving beef, chicken, carne asada or fish tacos, you’ll find something for everyone at these Mexican restaurants.

3. Taqueria La Tapatia

OK, they’re not technically restaurants, but the taco carts in downtown Ogden are still a favorite for S-E readers. If you need a quick, affordable lunch, find one of their carts on Washington Boulevard, 25th Street or 26th Street.

4. El Matador 

Since 1963, this Ogden restaurant has been serving up savory Mexican food. If you’re looking for a tasty drink to go with your tacos, hit El Matador’s cantina for a fresh margarita.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday.

5. Taqueria El Paraiso

If you like to mix it up when it comes to your tacos, you won’t be disappointed with his small Ogden taqueria. It has more than 20 varieties of tacos to try, all at an affordable price.

6. Paco’s Mexican Food

Don’t be fooled by the exterior of this small Mexican restaurant next to a 12th Street gas station. They’re serving up some tasty tacos inside, according to S-E readers.

Hours: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday; 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday; closed, Sunday. 

7. Patricia’s Restaurant

You’ll get good food with even better portion sizes at a great price at both Patricia’s locations. Several S-E readers recommended this family-owned, authentic Mexican restaurant.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday; 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday.
