As the weather cools down and bulky sweaters are dug out of closets around Northern Utah, it’s time for warm, filling comfort food — and what better option is there than Indian food?
The Ogden-area options below are great for a casual dinner, and some offer delivery, if you’re in the mood to stay home.
1. TANDOORI OVEN
Yelp rating: 4½ out of 5 stars with 192 reviews
Location: Normally, the restaurant is located at 720 E. 1000 North in Logan. As of Sept. 20, renovations were underway at the normal location and the restaurant had temporarily relocated to 1111 N. 800 East in Logan.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday
Description: Who would have thought the area’s best rated Indian restaurant on Yelp would be at a Logan gas station? Many reviewers who stopped by while traveling through the small college town noted they were surprised by the quality of Tandoor Oven’s food — and urged others not to be thrown off by its gas station location. In addition to traditional Indian dishes, the restaurant offers some Pakistani fare. Those who reviewed the restaurant recommended all variations of the spot’s coconut kurma, as well as its naan.
2. TASTE OF INDIA
Yelp rating: 4 out of 5 stars with 125 reviews
Location: 1664 Woodland Park Drive, Layton

Description: In addition to its high rating on Yelp, this Indian restaurant offers something many locations in the area don’t — delivery. To have your food sent straight to your door, visit Taste of India’s website. The restaurant’s curries were frequently recommended in Yelp reviews. However, its garlic naan got some flack — apparently garlic powder is used instead of minced garlic.
3. BOMBAY GRILL

Location: 3035 Washington Blvd., Ogden
Hours: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, 4:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday
Description: At Ogden’s highest-rated Indian restaurant, try one of the vindaloo dishes — they were frequently recommended by reviewers on Yelp. Though several noted the location’s atmosphere isn’t to die for, they said the food made up for it. Some Indian folks living in or traveling through the area even took the time to note Bombay Grill’s food tastes a lot like home.
4. ROYAL INDIA

Location: 55 N. Main St., Bountiful
Hours: 4:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday
