7 places to get a Bloody Mary with brunch, breakfast in Ogden

 Outside eggs and bacon, few dishes or drinks capture the essence of brunch quite like a bloody mary.

And even though Utah limits the amount of liquor that can be served in the savory drinks, there are quite a few restaurants and bars in Ogden where you can get one for a festive breakfast.

Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Breakfast is served all day. The restaurant starts serving bloody marys at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays and at 10:30 a.m. on weekends. 

Location: 227 25th St, Ogden

Description: Pig & a Jelly Jar doesn’t have a license to serve liquor so the restaurant got creative with its approach to the Bloody Mary. Instead of vodka, the drink is made with PBR. A description on the business’ website says it comes with a Cajun sea salt rim, the beer, house-made bloody mary mix, lime and pickled green beans. The drink costs $4.50. 


Hours: Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. Bloody marys are available outside brunch hours, though, and can be served starting at 11 a.m. on weekdays and 10:30 a.m. on weekends. The restaurant’s regular hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Location: 1895 Washington Blvd, Ogden

Description: This pizzeria is another spot that can only serve beer and wine, so it took some liberties with the standard bloody mary recipe. In lieu of vodka, Slackwater combines its house-made bloody mary mix with sake, a clear Japanese rice wine. It’s an unusual combination, but it makes a solid drink. The beverage costs $6.47 with tax. 


Hours: Brunch and the bloody mary bar are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. 

Location: 130 25th St., Ogden

Description: Think you make bloody marys better than the rest? Head to Lighthouse Lounge, where you can make your own at a fully stocked bloody mary bar. When you order a bloody, you get a glass with a piece of bacon and a shot of Five Wives Vodka in it. Then you can head over to the bar, which includes standards like olives, jalapeños, asparagus spears, mushrooms and more. If you’re not into the standard bloody mary mix, you can try Lighthouse Lounge’s special green mix, which has a verde sauce flair. Each drink at the bloody mary bar costs $6.


Hours: Breakfast is served from 9 a.m. to noon on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. The location starts serving bloody marys at 10:30 a.m. every day. In general, the restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

Location: 126 25th St., Ogden

Description: No matter what time you decide to go to Two Bit Street Cafe, you can order up a house-made bloody mary. Usually the drink’s garnishes include things like olives, celery and lime — whatever happens to be available. The drinks cost $4. 


Hours: Bloody marys are available starting at 10 a.m. each day the location is open. Its Sunday brunch special, however, is only served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Harp and Hound’s general hours are from 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Location: 2550 Washington Blvd., Ogden

Description: Along with its Sunday brunch buffet, Harp and Hound has a $2 bloody mary special. The drinks are made to order, so patrons are welcome to ask for theirs to be more or less spicy. Outside of the special’s hours, a no-frills bloody mary costs $4 at the location. However, some specialty options are available. For example, for about $5.50, you can order one of the drinks with cucumber or pepper flavored vodka.


Hours: Brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. That’s when the bloody mary bar is open. Otherwise, the restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The location starts serving alcohol at 11:30 a.m. each day.

Location: 225 25th St., Ogden

Description: This is another spot where you can concoct your own bloody mary at brunch. The location’s bloody mary bar features an assortment of sea salts, truffle salts and pickled vegetables. Shrimp are also available, as well as two types of bloody mary mix. Though the bar is only available during brunch hours, bloody marys are on the menu any time after 11:30 a.m. Drinks made at the bar and those made other days of the week cost $7.
