ROY — Cameron Brown rushed for 243 yards and four touchdowns as Viewmont overwhelmed Roy in the second half on the way to a 35-28 region win Friday.
Roy (3-4, 1-2 Region 5) led 21-14 at halftime and received the ball in the second half, but the Royals fumbled their first offensive play of the half.
Viewmont (5-2, 2-0) scored twice in the next few minutes to take control and put itself alone in first place.
Davis Weir also hit Tyler Ray on a 67-yard scoring pass from in the second quarter for the Vikings.
Roy scored on two second-quarter Jaxson Dart to Dionte Davis touchdown passes, for 78 and 13 yards. Two Trace Tupe touchdowns runs bookended the Roy passing scores.

WEBER 42, DAVIS 9
PLEASANT VIEW — Weber jumped out to a 28-2 halftime lead and cruised to a region win over Davis.
Austin Bartholomew threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Warriors (6-1, 4-0 Region 1). Colton Jones added a rushing touchdown. Brandt Opheikens, Sione Moa and Ty Barnett each caught a touchdown pass.
Davis (1-6, 1-3) scored on a first-quarter safety and a third-quarter touchdown on a 7-yard run by Dalton Adams. The touchdown was the first score allowed by the Weber defense in 14 consecutive Region 1 quarters.
NORTHRIDGE 35, LAYTON 7
LAYTON — Northridge took a 21-0 lead into the halftime break and cruised to a region win over Layton.
Josiah Kelley led Northridge (4-3, 3-2 Region 1) with a 26-yard touchdown catch pass from Jackson Murphy in the second quarter, along with a 65-yard scoring run and a 40-yard interception return, both in the third quarter.
The other Northridge scores came when Lawrence Yarbrough returned the opening kickoff 90 yards and Hunter Harris rushed 21 yards to paydirt in the second quarter.
Layton (0-7, 0-5) got a second-quarter touchdown as Cannon Panfiloff hit Austin Graham on a 3-yard pass.
Friday’s game marked Jason Duckworth’s last home game at Northridge after 20 years on the sidelines. The defensive coordinator is stepping away from coaching.
BOX ELDER 24, CLEARFIELD 7
BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder led 10-7 at halftime and kept Clearfield off the scoreboard from there for a non-region win.
Box Elder (3-4) started the scoring with a 48-yard interception return by Jeremiah Petersen. Alex Stevens booted a 30-yard field goal, Hyrum Blachard scampered for a 65-yard touchdown run and Jeremy Kaleikini rushed to paydirt from 25 yards out.
Clearfield (4-3) scored on an 85-yard pass from Jaxon Mansfield to Devon Poll.
MOUNTAIN CREST 17, BEAR RIVER 10
GARLAND — Bradey Brown hit Jacob Olsen for a 12-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter to put Bear River on the verge of a region upset, but Mountain Crest answered moments later and held off the Bears.
The Bear River (4-3, 1-2 Region 12) score put the Bears up 10-7, but Brady Hall hit Cameron Moser on a 20-yard score to regain the lead for Mountain Crest (6-1, 2-1).
Cole Croney booted a 22-yard field goal for Bear River. Brown threw for 151 yards.
TOOELE 49, OGDEN 6
TOOELE — Tooele rode a bruising running attack to a big region win over Ogden.
All seven of the Tooele (4-3, 2-1 Region 11) touchdowns came on rushing plays. The Buffaloes led 35-0 at the half.
Ogden (2-5, 1-2) got on the board with a fourth-quarter touchdown run by Irving Gastelum.
Backup-turned-starter Nick Freeman, who led Ogden to two wins at quarterback, was injured on the second play of the game and could not continue. Carson White, who went down with a knee injury in Ogden’s game at Preston, was pressed into service.
MORGAN 47, EMERY 27
CASTLE DALE — Morgan took a 25-7 halftime lead on the way to the big region win.
Morgan (5-2, 3-0 3-A North) scored twice more in the third quarter to take a 40-7 lead before Emery (1-6, 1-2) tacked on two fourth-quarter scores.
LAYTON CHRISTIAN 28, MONTICELLO 14
LAYTON — Layton Christian (4-3) trailed 6-0 at the half, then scored 28 second-half points to beat Monticello (2-5) in a non-region game.
LCA took its first lead on a 32-yard Ryleigh McCombs run in the third quarter, then added a 9-yard touchdown pass from Jaice Holt to McCombs.
Dustin Moffo then scampered for a 59-yard run. With 1:32 left in the game, Holt handed off to McCombs, who threw a pass back to Holt for a 20-yard touchdown to seal the win.
At halftime, Layton Christian honored staff sergeant Aaron Butler, a Utah National Guard soldier and Monticello native who was killed in action in Afghanistan last month.
