Prep Football Roundup: Bonneville pounds Tooele, moves to 2nd in Region 11

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville recovered a Tooele fumble on the opening kickoff and took a 7-0 lead three plays later on the way to a 47-17 win Friday, moving the Lakers into sole possession of second place in Region 11.

Tooele (4-4, 2-2 Region 11) took a 10-7 lead by kicking a field goal and returning a Laker fumble for a touchdown, but after that, it was all Bonneville.

Bonneville (4-4, 3-1) got two touchdowns from Bronson Fox and one each from Jeffrey Criddle, Aaron Eberhard and Ty Stark.

Criddle also forced a fumble that Elijah Mason returned 24 yards for a score in the first half. Eberhard added field goals of 26 and 33 yards.

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful (5-3) took a 21-6 halftime lead and held Layton (0-8) to three field goals to claim the non-region win.

For Bountiful, Brig Willard tossed touchdown passes of 63 yards to Garrett Buchanan in the first quarter and 10 yards to Cooper Ohlson in the second.

Karsten Wersland had a 1-yard touchdown plunge and Brig Johnson returned a fourth-quarter interception for a score. Bridger Booth added a 47-yard field goal.


OGDEN — Ogden scored two second-quarter touchdowns but it wasn't enough as Park City wrangled the region road win.

Park City (4-4, 2-2 Region 11) trailed 14-10 at the half but scored five second-half touchdowns.

Irving Gastelum returned a kickoff 80 yards for the first Ogden (2-6, 1-3) score. Rhyle Hanson added a 1-yard touchdown run.


STANSBURY PARK — Stansbury ran out to a 38-0 halftime lead and galloped away from Ben Lomond for the region win.

Stansbury (5-3, 4-0 Region 11) scored nine rushing touchdowns on the night.

Ben Lomond (0-8, 0-4) got two touchdowns late.


MORGAN — Carbon took a 7-6 lead, then Morgan responded with 33 unanswered points to stay unbeaten in region play.

Porter Giles scored two rushing touchdowns for Morgan (6-2, 4-0 3-A North). Jacob Stephens tossed scoring passes to Talon Polad and Jake Rounkles. Chase Trussell and Bridger Miller each rushed for a touchdown for the Trojans.

Carbon (0-8, 0-4) threw a 57-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.


MILLVILLE — Brady Stuart rushed 9 yards for a touchdown with 3:52 left in the game to give Ridgeline the region victory over visiting Bear River.

Ridgeline (5-3, 3-1 Region 12) led 10-7 at halftime and Stuart hit Sam Weda with a 7-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to push the RiverHawk lead to 17-7.

Bear River (4-4, 1-3) got on the board thanks to a McCoy Christensen 16-yard scamper in the second quarter. The Bears responded to the 10-point deficit with Brady Brown touchdown passes of 6 yards to Jacob Olsen and 43 yards to Christensen to take a 21-17 lead.

Bear River got the ball back after forcing a Ridgeline fumble with 1:32 left but Brown was intercepted — Bear River’s sixth turnover of the game — with 54 seconds left.


LAYTON — Layton Christian scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 20-0 lead into the locker room on the way to a region win over Altamont.

Ryleigh McCombs and Duston Moffo each scored two touchdowns for Layton Christian (5-3, 1-0 1-A North). Arren Eischeid recorded a third-quarter safety and Isaac Kelly booted a 31-yard field goal with 1:25 left in the game.

Altamont (4-3, 0-1) scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter and a safety in the third quarter.
