SOUTH JORDAN – Bingham took a 21-0 lead into the halftime break and cruised for a 37-7 win over Syracuse in the 6A football quarterfinals Friday.

Bingham (11-0, Region 4 champion) scored three rushing touchdowns in the first half, then added another touchdown and three field goals to take a 37-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Syracuse (7-4, Region 1 two-seed) tallied the final score of the game with 1:35 left when Ty Metcalfe hit Sawyer Larson with a 21-yard scoring strike.

Despite the lopsided score, Syracuse coach Michael Knight was positive about his squad.

“The adversity that our team had early in the year was tough and our kids showed great resiliency through the season,” he said. “They never quit and I’m extremely proud of their effort.”
