SYRACUSE – The Syracuse City Council has unanimously approved the hiring of Catherine Hoskins as its new part-time justice court judge.

Mayor Terry Palmer said Hoskins was selected because of her criminal court experience and also because she is a Davis County resident.

Councilman Brian Duncan, who is an attorney by profession, said he’s always been impressed by Hoskins.

“She is fair, kind and competent,” he said.

Hoskins received her law degree from the University of Oregon. She replaces Judge Joseph M. Bean.
