GARLAND — Jared Bagley drained a go-ahead 3 with 15 seconds left and Logan erased a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to earn a 76-71 victory over Bear River on Wednesday.
“There were a couple guys there but I had a little bit of space, so I shot it because I’d been feeling it today,” Bagley said.
Bagley finished with 27 points, while freshman Rylan Jones led Logan with 28.
Logan scored 35 points in the fourth quarter.
Jones gave Logan a 66-64 lead thanks to a sequence that resulted in five consecutive free-throw attempts. Jones was fouled on a three-point shot, and the official then assessed a technical foul on Bear River. Jones made all five free throws.
Triston Hartfiel responded by making an off-balance 3, one of nine 3’s he made during the game, and Bear River expanded its lead to four with less than a minute and a half left.
Jones made a 3-pointer to pull Logan within one, and following a Bear River free throw, Bagley’s heroics gave Logan the lead for good.
With the victory, Logan avenged a home loss to Bear River earlier in the season and also moved a game ahead of the Bears in the Region 11 standings. The Grizzlies have won four straight.
Hartfiel and Gunner Sorenson each led Bear River with 27 points.
