PREP RANKINGS: Sky View girls claim top spot, Woods Cross boys hold on

NOTE: Only teams from the Standard-Examiner’s area of coverage are considered in weekly prep rankings.


1. Woods Cross (10-2, 1-0 Region 5)

Woods Cross lost to Taylorsville but rebounded with a Region 5-opening blowout of East last week.

2. Sky View (9-2, 1-0 Region 1)

Sky View avenged one of its only two losses, beating Madison-Idaho, before dominating Mountain Crest last week.

3. Davis (9-2, 1-0 Region 2)

Davis opened Region 2 play with a 69-31 thumping of West last week.

4. Viewmont (7-4, 1-0 Region 2)

Viewmont ran its win streak to four games with wins over Bountiful and Hunter last week. The Vikings allowed just 72 points in the two games combined.

5. Layton (5-4, 0-0 Region 2)

Layton starts Region 2 play on a two-game win streak thanks to wins over Riverton and Roy. The Lancers defeated the Royals 73-63 last week.


1. Sky View (8-3, 2-0 Region 1)

Sky View opened Region 1 play with a pair of dominating wins last week. The Bobcats defeated Fremont and Mountain Crest by 27 and 45, respectively. Sky View has won six straight and is averaging a 60-33 victory during the streak.

2. Box Elder (9-1, 0-1 Region 5)

Box Elder suffered its first loss of the season, falling by five at Highland last week..

3. Viewmont (11-1, 3-0 Region 2)

Viewmont improved to 3-0 in Region 2 play with two blowout wins last week. The Vikings beat Davis by 26 and Hunter by 44. Viewmont has won six straight.

4. Morgan (10-2, 0-0 Region 11)

Morgan finished the non-region portion of its schedule with a 67-28 rout of Tooele last week.

5. Bountiful (5-4, 0-0 Region 5)

Bountiful won at Ogden but lost at home to Highland. The road win and home loss were both firsts for the season for the Braves.
