SYRACUSE — The more pitches Mia Cullimore threw Thursday, the stronger she appeared to get.
“My momentum was building and I was getting hyped up,” Cullimore said. “The adrenaline rush and really not wanting them to score and wanting to keep the lead was really pushing me to do better.”
Syracuse loaded the bases and brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but Cullimore ended the threat, and the game, with a strikeout.
The victory was the third in a row for the Darts, who improved to 5-2. The Titans fell to 2-1.
Cullimore also produced a pair of key hits. She laced an RBI single to right field in the top of the first to give Davis a 1-0 lead, then smacked a two-run double to right-center field in the top of the fifth to give the Darts a 4-2 advantage.
Abbie O’Brien hit a solo homer, Rachel Stott and Emily Kunzler each tallied RBI singles and Davis also took advantage of an error following a Paige Elkins single to score a run.
