PREP BASEBALL: Grantsville no match for Davis; roundup

GRANTSVILLE — Jackson Marler hit a two-run home run, Tate Larsen hit a solo homer, both players recorded doubles and Davis coasted past Grantsville for a 9-1 victory Friday.

Davis scored the first five runs of the game, then turned the game into a blowout with a four-run fifth inning.

Marler drove in three runs while Larsen drove in two.

Jaxon Knight went 2 for 3 with a double and Stockton Hall also doubled for the Darts.

Ben Rigby and Dom Fuller combined to strike out 12 while allowing just three hits. Rigby started and pitched 3 1/3 innings. Fuller pitched the final 3 2/3 innings.

FREMONT 4, WASATCH 1

HERRIMAN — Justin Flinders struck out eight in six innings, Haze Hadley and Jestin Schickel each recorded three hits and Fremont took care of Wasatch in a game played at Herriman High School.

Cade Hadley tallied a pair of hits for the Silver Wolves.

Fremont finished with 13 hits while Wasatch managed just five. Wasatch scored its only run of the game in the seventh inning.

MURRAY 11, BOUNTIFUL 8

ST. GEORGE — Murray scored three runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to break open its game against Bountiful at Desert Hills High School.

Bountiful trailed 5-1 early but tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the third. The game remained tied at 5-5 until the sixth inning.

The Braves scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Bountiful tallied only two hits, one by Isaac Parry and the other by Dallin Wilcox. Murray pitchers walked eight batters and the Spartans committed four errors.

OREM 6, BOUNTIFUL 5

ST. GEORGE — Orem scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Bountiful at Desert Hills High School.

Orem rallied late after falling behind 5-4. The Tigers tied the game in the sixth.

Hayden Jung recorded a pair of hits and Cooper Ohlson drove in a pair of runs for Bountiful.

The two teams combined to commit 10 errors. Bountiful committed six.

NORTHRIDGE 4, WESTLAKE 3

ST. GEORGE — Northridge scored a pair of runs in each of the second and fourth innings and held on to defeat Westlake at Desert Hills High School.

Westlake scored all its runs in the fifth inning.

Jacob Rhoades went 2 for 3 while Hunter Harris and Andrew West each drove in a pair of runs for the Knights.

WEBER 7, RIDGELINE 5

ST. GEORGE — Cy Denney tallied three hits and drove in three runs, Bridger Vorwaller struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings and Weber started its season with a win over Ridgeline at Snow Canyon High School.

Weber scored four runs in the top of the fourth to break a 3-3 tie. Ridgeline scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Weber finished with 11 hits.

WEBER 9, WEST 0

ST. GEORGE — Mitchell McKnight struck out eight and allowed just three hits in a complete-game effort and Weber used a late offensive surge to blow out West at Snow Canyon High School.

Weber scored six runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.

McKnight also drove in a pair of runs.

LOGAN 13, BONNEVILLE 2

LOGAN — Logan used a 13-hit barrage to dismantle Bonneville.

Will Toller and Brian Jones each tallied a pair of hits for the Lakers.

WOODS CROSS 17, HURRICANE 5

SPRINGVILLE 12, WOODS CROSS 6
