Prep Roundup: Bear River baseball still alive in 4A playoffs

BASEBALL

BEAR RIVER 9, TOOELE 0

ST. GEORGE — Jake Dahle tossed a complete-game four-hitter and struck out 15 as Bear River shut out Tooele in the first-round of the 4A playoffs at Pine View High School.

Makayden Kent batted 3 for 4 to lead the Bears, with a home run and four RBIs. Dahle also went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI. Parker Coombs hit a double and drove in a run.

PINE VIEW 18, BEAR RIVER 11

ST. GEORGE — Pine View used a 10-run second inning and a five-run fifth to beat Bear River in the second round of the 4A state tournament at Hurricane High School.

Jake Dahle paced the Bears at the plate with a home run, a double and five RBIs. Kelton Summers batted 2 for 2 with a double and one RBI. Makayden Kent went 3 for 4 with a double.

Parker Coombs took the loss, giving up eight runs and six hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Bear River will face Salem Hills on Wednesday in the one-loss bracket.

SKY VIEW 4, OGDEN 3

ST. GEORGE — Ogden took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Sky View plated three for the walk-off win in the first round of the 4A state tournament at Desert Hills High School.

SALEM HILLS 7, OGDEN 0

ST. GEORGE — Ogden saw its season end in a shutout at the hands of Salem Hills.

BOYS TENNIS

4A CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bonneville still had two players alive Saturday in the 4A state boys tennis championships at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.

In third singles, Andrew McCall (Bonneville) beat Erik Ellis (Ridgeline) 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals, then lost to Tanner Reese (Orem) in the championship match 6-3, 6-2.

In second singles, Bonneville’s Brecken Benard lost to eventual state champion Christian Craig (Orem) 6-0, 6-2 in their semifinal match.

The Orem Tigers won the 4A team title with a total of 24 points. Bonneville placed sixth with seven points.
