Reader has gratitude for signers of 'Declaration'

Friday , July 11, 2014 - 2:32 PM

Thanks, Standard-Examiner, for publishing the Declaration of Independence in July 4 “Our view.” The article was amazing and it was the first time I had read all the grievances of tyranny sent to the King of England, along with the Declaration of Independence. The colonies would could govern themselves.

Many times I have read the history of the 56 good, wise, honest, and God-fearing men who pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor, as well as the history of their families. This filled me with gratitude for their sacrifice. I love this blessed land of America and the freedom I enjoy because of the willing sacrifice rendered by so many.

God bless America. Let us remember that freedom is not free; it requires constant vigilance!
