Trump surrounds himself with inexperienced people who prefer alternative facts

We have a president who is a proven liar and represents the worst spirit, will and character of the American people. And supporting him by their silence are many of our elected Republican leaders, true sycophants.

I have read many letters to the editor saying "Get a life, Hillary lost" or "Give him a chance.” I truly want to give him a chance. But he has hired too many inexperienced people in his cabinet (Ben Carson, Rex Tillerson, Betsy DeVos) and too many with horrible track records (Scott Pruitt, Jeff Sessions, Steve Mnuchin, Tom Price). I hope they learn fast in their jobs. And his vice president, Mike Pence, so far has shown himself to be weak character.

Trump's first month has been chaotic with numerous contradictory statements. He has called the press enemies of the people; done nothing to bring people together; rolled out an illegal seven-country ban on immigrants; alienated allies like Great Britain, Mexico, Australia, Sweden, and Germany; attacked the intelligence agencies that try their hardest to protect us; given "notice" to Iran, whatever that means; and pandered to Russia and Putin when evidence shows that they interfered with our elections.

I will be delighted if he succeeds in eliminating ISIS, creating jobs, strengthening our economy, providing affordable health care to everyone, eliminating crime and balancing trade with China. I hope he also fails in keeping minimum wages low, giving tax credits to the rich, eroding women's and LGBT rights, deporting U.S.-born children of illegal aliens and tearing up their families, eroding sensible rules on banks and Wall Street, denying refugees from seeking asylum and negatively impacting our environment.

And finally, I hope he surrounds himself with people who speak the truth rather than alternative facts, like Sean Spicer, Kellyanne Conway and Reince Priebus. Trump has instincts and prejudices out of the American norm, and these three add fuel to the fire.
