Family loses another pet on the streets of Sunset

Saturday night, April 9, 2017, our beloved dog got out because, by accident, the gate wasn’t shut tight and the wind blew it open. Our Australian Shepherd was very curious, friendly and sweet, and decided to "tour" Sunset. We live on 2575 North, and unfortunately she was hit by an automobile on 250 West in front of Sunset Elementary.

She managed to limp into someone's yard. These kind people called Sunset Police to report her demise. The officer who was on duty is an acquaintance of ours was kind enough to call and come to our home to let us know. He stayed with us until the reporting officer brought her home.

The reason for this letter is to thank the Sunset Police and to warn people to please watch your pets on these "mean" streets of Sunset. As of this date, two of our family’s pets have been hit by speeding, rude and careless drivers.

The the driver who hit our dog Saturday night, left. How can you live with yourself? What if it had been a child? Pet owners feel as though their beloved pets are their children!

RIP, Madison. Love, Jan and your brother Scout.
