I just finished reading about our homeless problem, right here at home (“34 people found during Weber County's 'most successful' homeless count,” Jan. 30 Standard-Examiner).
Sometimes at night, when I can’t sleep and am feeling sorry for myself, I think of the poor homeless people who have no roofs over their heads. They have nowhere to go so they sleep outside, with no protection — hungry, cold and helpless.
How lucky I am just to have a roof over my head, something to eat and a nice warm bed to sleep in.
Often, I think of the homeless in some foreign country. But this is not some foreign country! This is right here at home, in the great country we call America.
Let’s do something about it.
