I would like to take this opportunity to voice my opinion of the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
I have been going to that hospital since 1975, and I have never seen anything like the dirty exam room that’s at the center of a recent fuss (“VA 'doubling down' to respond to Utah vet's messy room,” May 1). I’m not privy to what happened to that young man, but to make the fuss he has, he doesn’t seem to know what is going on.
That hospital is outstanding. If you could see how many people pass through there in a day, it would blow your mind. The numbers are astronomical.
I’ve never been treated badly there; everyone I’ve come into contact with has always been professional and pleasant to deal with. Naturally with all the patients they handle every single day mistakes can be made.
I think this young man should be happy he’s close to such a great facility. And give thanks daily.
