Fans of baseball and a bout of fisticuffs were watching this minor league game in Idaho last night, but not for the reasons the Ogden Raptors or any scout would have liked.

This meme tweeted by Lexington Legend (Kansas City Royals) player Austin Fairchild pretty much captures last night’s events in a nutshell.

The Ogden Raptors’ historic franchise 16-inning game took to the dugout in the headline and instead the eight ejections from a West Side Story-style fight made the news! It seems to be the current minor league trend over the past week.

The MiLB game video made headlines on Deadspin and other viral sites online by Wednesday morning after even the team managers got into the fight.

In total the game lasted a tedious 5 hours and 29 minutes for the fans in Idaho Falls. By the end of the game 10 individuals were ejected including Ogden Raptors team manager Jack McDowell, Justin Chigbogu, Julian Leon, Theo Alexander, and Colin Hering for the Raptors.

And you can’t make this stuff up — but Idaho Falls ironically had two players ejected by the names Brawlun Gomez and Brooks Pounders, as well as Ramirez. After the fight another player was also ejected according to the Chukars.

In the 4:31 minute video of the team fight the teams go back at it just after you think the fight is over and everyone is going back to their benches to continue playing the game.

Even the Mixed Martial Arts community chimed in about how baseball players should stick to playing exactly that — baseball.

The Idaho Falls Chukars and the Ogden Raptors got into a brawl tonight (twice!). At least seven players have been ejected

It must be something about that Idaho soil, because this isn’t the first time the two teams have clenched fists against each other. On June 30, 2008 a shoving match quickly turned into a group event shortly after the first pitch was thrown.

It had to be a long bus ride home for not only the Raptors, but even the Chukars as they made their way toward a Colorado for a road game.

Hopefully, this next game ends with people talking about stitches on a baseball instead of someone’s head.

And in case you want to see more Minor League Baseball fighting, which may be why you clicked on this story in the first place, then see this video that happened only a few days ago in between the Reno Aces and the Albuquerque Isotopes.
