RIVERDALE — Looking for a new pet? You may find the perfect match at the “Find Them a Home” animal adoption event.

The pet adoption event starts at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, and continues until 8 p.m., inside the Riverdale PetSmart at 1145 W. Riverdale Road. The adoption event continues from 8 p.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9. Cat adoption fees run between $25 and $75, and dog adoption fees run from $50 to $150. Potential pet parents who bring a bag of pet food receive a couple worth $5 to $10 off of adoption fees, based on the size of bag. The pet food will be given to animal shelters that turn in honored coupons.

In addition to adoptions, there will be pet groomers and trainers on site.

“Find Them a Home” is the Girl Scout Gold Award project of Cianna Penman. The Gold Award is the Girl Scout’s equivalent of the Boy Scout Eagle Award. Penman, of Sunset, hopes to find homes for 80 or more animals per year.
