SYRACUSE — The funeral for Marli Hamblin has been set for Monday, Aug. 18, according to the teen’s family.

The Syracuse High School cheerleader died Sunday after being run over in her driveway. She was sunbathing when a family member accidentally backed out of the garage and ran over her. Sunbathing on the driveway was not a regular occurrence for the teen.

Hamblin, 15, died from complications of head injuries.

She is one of four Syracuse High students to die this summer. The Whatcott brothers, Jaxon Whatcott, set to be an junior, and his older brother, Daulton Whatcott, a Syracuse High graduate, died in a single-engine plane crash in Nevada on July 20. Ariah Bosworth, who would have been a junior at Syracuse High this upcoming school year, passed away July 23.

A vigil will also be held Sunday night in honor of Hamblin. More details will be posted as they become available.
