OGDEN — Say hello to the new faces of 2017.

An Ogden family welcomed the first baby at Ogden Regional Medical Center early Sunday morning.

Luis Gerardo Reyna was born at 1:01 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1. His parents are Luis and Irene Reyna of Ogden.

Irene was induced and was in labor for about five hours before Luis was born, according to Craig Bielik, hospital communications director.

Luis weighs 7.3 pounds and is 19 inches long. He has one older sister, Jennessa.

At McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Danielle and Taylor Johnson of North Ogden welcomed their son, Drew Taylor Johnson, into the world at 12:04 a.m.

Drew weighs 8.4 pounds and is 21 inches. Drew is the Johnsons’ third child, and joins older sisters Payton, 8, and Audrey, 19 months.

Danielle Johnson said she was in labor for four hours and that her due date was originally set for Jan. 6, 2017.

“(Drew) was the fastest one,” Danielle said of her deliveries. “When I go into labor, I go into labor.”

Danielle said having a New Year’s baby was a “pretty neat experience” but that she was primarily excited to have her son in her arms.

“I loved on him just as soon as my girls,” she said.

Another New Year’s baby was born at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City at 5:30 a.m.
