OGDEN — Northern Utahns will have to find a new place to grab a burger in downtown Ogden.
Scrud’s Gourmet Grub officially closed its doors Feb. 27, according to an email from owner Brett Lyman. The restaurant, located at 252 25th St., opened its Ogden location in April 2014 and was known for its stuffed burgers.
Though tables and chairs — as well as signage — are still at the restaurant’s 25th Street location, a small flyer in the doorway says the business has closed. Lyman said he made the decision because he’s no longer interested in running the restaurant.
Unless someone would like to take over the business, he said, the closure will be permanent. The business has opened restaurants in several locations over the years, but the Ogden spot was its last one.
Scrud’s first restaurant opened in 2009 in Mountain View, Wyoming, according to a menu posted on its website. That location closed about a year later. A new location was opened in November 2011 in Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho, when the Lyman family moved there.
The Idaho location shut its doors in November 2013, after Lyman decided to move the business to Ogden, according to previous Standard-Examiner reporting. The Ogden location’s grand opening was in April 2014.
Though the restaurant’s website says a Scrud’s location was opened six months later in Draper, Lyman said the business’ location there never took off.
