Ogden Police name victim in fatal car crash Friday

OGDEN — Police have publicly identified the victim of a fatal car crash near 1600 Washington Blvd. Friday evening. 

Gene Roy Stanley, 76, was declared dead at the scene after the car he was driving hit a tree around 5:20 p.m.

Police said that there were two family members — a 43-year-old male and a 74-year-old female — in the vehicle with Stanley, according to a tweet from the Ogden Police Department.

The female passenger in the front seat suffered a broken arm, and the male passenger in the back seat received several injuries but is in stable condition, Ogden Police Lt. Brian Eynon said Friday.

Stanley and the female victim are from California and were visiting family in the area, according to a tweet from Ogden Police.

Police also said that a medical issue could have caused the wreck, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. 

Northbound lanes of Washington Boulevard were closed from 12th Street to 17th Street as responders cleared the scene.
