EDEN — Opening day has arrived for another local ski resort.

Thursday marked the opening day for Eden’s Nordic Valley, according to a press release from the resort.

Two of the resort’s lifts, Cub and Crockett, opened at 10 a.m. Thursday and more skiable areas will open as weather permits, according to the release.

Nordic Valley is the second ski resort to open this season in the Ogden area. Snowbasin opened one week ago, on Dec. 7.

Powder Mountain is the only local resort that has not yet opened. An opening date has not been set for the mountain.

JP Goulet, marketing manager for Powder Mountain, said the resort does not make its own snow and relies solely on natural snowfall.

Goulet said last week that once the mountain gets a good base after a hefty snowfall, an official opening date will be able to be determined.
