Looking to try a new restaurant in Weber or Davis counties? You’re in luck — there are plenty. Here’s a partial list of eateries that opened their doors in 2017:
Classic Asian fare such as crab cheese wontons ($6.99), seaweed salad ($4.99), chow mein ($9.99), teriyaki chicken ($10.99), red or green curry ($7.99) and much more. The extensive menu offers flavors of China, Japan and Thailand. 2327 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Opened January 2017.
After operating the downstairs Funk n’ Dive for two years, the owners decided to open a more upscale bar upstairs with a full dinner menu and live music on the weekends. Sunday brunch (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) offers a $10 buffet and $2 mimosas and bloody Marys, while the Friday night steak dinner includes a steak and two sides for $6. 2550 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Opened January 2017.
Homestyle meals like chicken Parmesan, meatloaf or pot roast are dinner favorites at this restaurant with over 100 locations nationwide. For breakfast, try favorites like corned beef hash, pancakes or thick-cut French toast. 366 12th St., Ogden. Opened February 2017.
The Bird — This restaurant’s simple menu includes chicken bites (50 cents each), chicken tenders ($1.50 each) and a variety of sides like mashed potatoes, mac ’n’ cheese, coleslaw and more. Ordering for a big group? Get the $20 family feast with 10 tenders or 30 bites, two large sides and six cornpones with raspberry butter. 2432 W. 1700 South, Syracuse. Opened February 2017.
O-Town Noodle House — Replacing World Famous Pho, the new eatery also specializing in Asian noodle soups has a menu with nine types of pho and six types of ramen, and plenty of other noodle, rice and vermicelli dishes. 154 25th St., Ogden. Opened March 2017.
Thai Palm Kitchen — Classic Thai entrees such as pad Thai, pad ped, papaya salad, teriyaki beef, stir fries, curry and larb fill the menu at this new eatery in South Ogden. 4844 Harrison Blvd., South Ogden. Opened May 2017.
Pepito’s Philly Cheesesteaks — Choose from five Philly wraps or seven kinds of cheesesteaks, including classic, chicken barbecue or the “Inferno Philly” with chipotle sauce, ghost pepper cheese, mayonnaise, red and green bell peppers, red onion and thinly sliced rib-eye for $8.95. The menu also includes sides, salads, kids’ options and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). 252 25th St., Ogden. Opened June 2017.
Boasting “simple, fresh Japanese-style ramen” and “healthy, nutrient-dense bone broths,” this new eatery is all about local ingredients used in unique Japanese dishes and served in an atmosphere that embraces culture and diversity. 2550 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Opened June 2017.
With more than 200 beers, made-from-scratch menu items like burgers, sandwiches and steak, live music every Friday night and brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, this American pub has become a staple in downtown Ogden. 2570 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Opened June 2017.
Haru Ramen — This new Japanese restaurant offers an extensive menu of ramen, udon and fried rice dishes all moderately priced under $11. Try the $9.95 braised beef ramen, made with slowly braised beef brisket in a rich broth, bok choy, onsen tamago and green onions. 1266 Legend Hills Drive, Ste. B1, Clearfield. Opened June 2017.
Johnny O’s Spudnuts — The Layton location may be new, but Spudnuts have been sold in Utah since the early 1940s, when the first shop was opened in Salt Lake City. By the late 1940s, there were over 200 locations nationwide, thanks to the popular potato flour-based doughnut recipe. 2151 N. Hill Field Road, Layton. Opened July 2017.
Brick oven-cooked pizzas with a variety of options, including a gluten-free crust. Create your own or choose from a menu with nine kinds, like the $7.99 “Basic Kneads” (red sauce, fresh mozzarella, provolone, asiago, parmesan) or the $10.99 “Lemon Garlic Chicken” (fresh mozzarella, cheddar scallion sauce, chicken, rosemary potatoes, cheddar, mushrooms, onions). At this fast-casual, artisan-style pizza restaurant, patrons can choose as many toppings as they wish for a flat price per pizza. After it’s all piled on, the thin-crust pie is baked to perfection in an 800-degree oven for about five minutes. 845 W. Riverdale Road, Riverdale; opened August 2017. 2577 S. Wildcat Way, Woods Cross; opened July 2017.
Wingstop — Flavor comes first at this restaurant specializing in wings. This new franchise has 11 wing flavors, including “Atomic,” mango habanero, Louisiana rub, garlic parmesan, Hawaiian and more. Hand-cut fries are one of many side options on the menu. 2065 N. Harris Blvd., Layton; opened September 2017. 835 W. Riverdale Road, Riverdale; opened August 2017.
Chipotle Mexican Grill — The famous Mexican fast-food chain opened its first Weber County location this past summer, joining a handful of other restaurants at Riverdale Town Square. 849 W. Riverdale Road, Riverdale. Opened August 2017.
El Paisa Grill — This new Mexican restaurant boasts lunch and dinner specials and an all-you-can-eat taco bar. Menu items include a wide selection of appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees like burritos, fajitas and molcajete. With an additional location in West Valley City, El Paisa Grill was established in 1999 by the Orozco family from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. 460 W. 12th St., Ogden. Opened September 2017.
This is the place to go for big, big gourmet burgers. Each burger starts with a one-third-pound patty that is a mixture of ground brisket and chuck, then “burly” ingredients like bacon, cheese, eggs, boneless buffalo chicken strips and more. Order at the counter, then sit down and wait for your food. 2572 E South Weber Drive, Suite 4, South Weber. Opened November 2017.
4 Brothers Pizza — Stone baked pizza, salads, pasta, hot sandwiches and more. Try classic pies like barbecue chicken, Hawaiian or veggie, or specialties such as chicken spinach alfredo or the “Justice” (alfredo sauce, Canadian bacon, pepperoni, black olives and mozzarella cheese). 2056 N. Hillfield Road, Layton. Opened December 2017.
