Twelve-hour music festival Aug. 30 at Mojos
Thursday , August 21, 2014 - 4:46 PM
Sixteen bands hailing from the encompassing mountain region of Northern Utah are coming together for a 12-hour concert unlike any other.
Mojos music venue is hosting the first ever Mojos Fest, a concert running from noon to midnight on Aug. 30.
Mojos used to host a Halloween and battle of the bands events with a similar feel, but not quite the same caliber of music and production value as Mojos Fest will have.
Venue owner Ron Atencio said the entire property will be used to create a special “festival atmosphere.”
“In the back, in the garden and the parking area we are going to have another stage, and have acoustic music or hip-hop or what have you,” Atencio said, adding that an acoustic stage will be set up in front of the venue.
Atencio worked with Stiletto Promotions, based out of Logan, Soul & Color Entertainment based out of Ogden and Salt Lake City, and local record label Beergrass Records, to get bands and artists booked for the festival.
“It really is a community thing where I’m bringing a lot of people together to have parts of it, and just make it a fun all day event,” Atencio continued.
“Summer is almost over, we’re moving into September, school is back, so it’s a really nice time to kick in for the kids and have one big last summer party there.”
With genres ranging from pop-punk to symphonic metal, the blend of bands playing the festival add to its singularity. Tickets to the day-long festival can be purchased at the door for $10, but there is a limited number of $8 tickets also at the door. The event is open to all ages.
“Music is everything to us, it’s what makes it all tick,” Atencio said. “It’s the heart and soul of any community in my opinion.”
The lineup consists of Beergrass Records’ artists, to Salt Lake City metal bands, to some of Logan City’s premiere acoustic acts. Atencio said the first half of the day will consist of more mellow music, and the music will get louder and more rowdy as the night goes on, ending with a bang and metal bands.
