July 10, 1938 ~ June 6, 2014
TAYLOR - The day has come to report the mission of our Silver Fox, Vaughn LeRoy Allen. He passed away on June 6, 2014 in the arms of his daughter Lori and with his wife Rondy by his side. The last weeks of his life were honored by tender medical care by his two grandchildren, Richard Allen and Amanda Allen.
Vaughn was born July 10, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to A. LeRoy and Glenna Pledger Allen. He married Shirley King in 1957 and later divorced in 1994, from this union three children were born, Sherry, David (deceased), and Lori. He married his sweetheart, Rondy Jane Terrell in 1997 in which he inherited four wonderful step-children Jerry, Jeff, Lynn and Lisa.
He graduated from Weber High School in 1956. His parents bought a dairy farm in Taylor, Utah in 1945 where he labored diligently until the very last days of his life. He was a very dedicated worker taking over the family farm at a very early age. He worked side by side with his Father, LeRoy and brother Scott. The dairy cows were sold in 2001; he built a commercial building in Layton, Utah in 2006 and shortly thereafter transformed the dairy farm, along with his trusted friend Jesse Vega, into Allen Horseplay, where his grandsons, Lyric and Richard, were his right hand men. Allen Horseplay is the home of 45-50 horses and numerous friends that become like family. His meeting of interesting horse people through the last eight years has given his life great enjoyment. He enjoyed inventing machinery, farming, traveling and was a handy man. He was the past President of Future Farmers of America.
Vaughn loved and served his Heavenly Father through two Ogden Temple missions with his eternal companion, Rondy and as a ward Seventy missionary. He also served in many other various church callings.
He is remembered by his powerful singing voice that matured as he sang while planting, fertilizing, and harvesting alfalfa and his favorite crop, which was corn.
Vaughns greatest joy was his family. Vaughn leaves behind his wife, Rondy Terrell Allen; daughter, Sherry Henderson; daughter, Lori Chapman; daughter in law, Lynda Allen; Jerry Kennison, stepson; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Leanne (Don) Casterline, Verdene (Jay) Whittier and Kaylene (Gerry) Spinden and his brother, Scott (Judy) Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David LeRoy Allen; step-son, Jeffrey Kennison; step-daughters, Lynn Kennison Hough and Lisa Rondy Kennison Wood.
A Special thanks to Vaughn's doctors and hospice, who attended to his needs and medical treatment.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Ogden West Stake Center, 2200 South 4300 West in Taylor, Utah, on Friday, June 13, 2014. A viewing is scheduled for Thursday from 5 until 8:30 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, and from 11 to 12:30 p.m. at the church prior to the service on Friday.
