October 22, 1921 ~ June 24, 2014
HOOPER - Marjorie Bailey Beus, age 92, passed away on Tuesday June 24, 2014 at her home in Hooper, Utah surrounded by family members. Marjorie was born October 22, 1921, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Luther Kennedy Bailey and Maggie Arminta Grover.
Marjorie grew up in Riverdale, Utah with her six siblings, enjoying lazy afternoons at the swimming hole, reading any book she could get her hands on and time spent practicing the piano. She was student-body secretary at Weber High School prior to her graduation.
In 1940, Marjorie married the love of her life, Jay Richard Beus, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and eternity, and they moved to a farm in Hooper, Utah, where they remained for the rest of their lives. In addition to raising their five children, helping on the farm, Marjorie was PTA President, a member of the Hooper Women's Club and Toastmasters. She served in many organizations within the LDS church and was an employee of the I.R.S. for over 20 years - ensuring all her children paid their taxes on time!
Family and friends were Marjorie's true passion. She loved having her children and grandchildren visit for summer barbeques, horseback riding, four-wheeling, grab bags at Christmas time or harvesting the garden. Extended family always knew they had a place to stay at Marge and Jay's when visiting Utah. Friends were always welcome in her home and she was known throughout the community for her church roadshow productions and her Witch character every Halloween.
Marjorie is survived by three daughters: Annette Beus (Allan) Christensen, Carroll Beus Hodson (Timothy) Thomas, and MarJean Beus (LaMar) Wright; two sons: Jay Robert (Lynette) Beus and Bradley Ray (Eve) Beus; 32 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Myrl and Clare Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 11 am at the Hooper 2nd Ward building, 5000 S 5900 W Hooper, Utah. A viewing will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah and prior to services from 9:45 - 10:45 am at the church.
She will be buried at the Hooper Cemetery.
