July 14, 1951 ~ June 29, 2014
Patricia Jean (Schow) Brunsvik passed away peacefully in her home on June 29, 2014. She was born July 14, 1951 to Dean Schow and Minnie Aurelia Ellis. She was raised and lived most of her life in Ogden, UT.
Patricia touched many people in her life, and was known as a very caring and thoughtful person. She was at her best when helping others. She was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and served as unit Commander for many years and also as State Commander. She loved helping veterans. She and her grandson Darian particularly enjoyed placing flags on the graves of veterans every Veterans Day. She also organized clothing drives for homeless veterans through the years. Only a few days ago, she drove a veteran to Salt Lake City for a procedure at the VA hospital, even as she struggled with her own health.
Patricia had many interests. She was an excellent cook and loved to Bar-b-cue. She enjoyed all things Egyptian. She loved music. She could always be found listening to her favorite songs, and for many years dancing to them. Elvis Presley and EL Divo were a couple of her personal favorite artists, and she was thrilled to have seen them both in concert.
Above all, Patricia loved her children. She raised six of her own, and helped to raise her grandchildren. Patricia's love for her children stood out in times of great need. Her daughter Mindy was diagnosed with severe juvenile diabetes at an early age. Pat did everything she could to help her including learning everything about the disease and ensuring that her daughter stayed on a healthy regiment. This interaction between the two of them drew them closer together over the years. Pat was utterly devastated when her daughter passed. She cherished spending time with her family and did her utmost to have a warm welcoming home for them.
Patricia is survived by her brothers and sisters, Hugh (Sherma) Sloan, Saundra (Verl) Hansen, Terry (June) Schow, Wayne Mohler and Robin Valdez. By her children, Troy Randolph, Kodie (Amy) Brunsvik, Justin (Eden) Brunsvik, Matthew (Brandee) Brunsvik, and Sara (Printess) Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by a daughter Mindy Stevens. She had eight grandchildren.
A memorial service for Patricia will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 1 pm at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home, 1102 N, 1200 W, Ogden, UT.
